January 2016 Update this Blog!

My New Thing for January is to update this post.  I have started on that already; please see previous posts!

2015

Sports and Travel

This was a year that the kids tried a ton of sports.

AL  Basketball, Spring and Fall softball

RB Basketball, Spring soccer and baseball, baseball, All-Star baseball, Pitt Basketball Camp, Arsenal soccer club

MB  Fall soccer

Travel

March   For Spring Break we went to Kentucky and explored Lexington and Louisville.  We went to a horse park in Lexington and walked around the University of Kentucky's campus.  They had just won a game in the basketball March Madness, and the town was excited.

Then it was off to Louisville.  There we visited the Louisville Slugger baseball bat factory, University of Louisville college campus, and Churchill Downs.  Good memories.

Mom's New Thing for 2015

I started tutoring!  Started with one student and ended up with four by March.  I loved working and making money again.  I definitely want to pursue this more.

2014

Travel year:  Delaware

2014

June  We took the kids to Bethany Beach, DE for the first time.  Stayed in a great townhouse.  We did lots of walking, explored the beach, and took time to relax.

September We said goodbye to our beloved Escalade.  Her brakes went out on us as we were heading back to Bedford Springs in August, and we knew it was time.  To replace her, we bought a Volvo XC 90.

AL 3rd grade and started in an accelerated math class.

RB 2nd grade

MB Preschool 3's class

2013

The kids are really growing and changing.  Lots of new adventures this year!

2013

June  AL and  RB both joined the swim team for the first time.  Overall they did well and they navigated through a new activity.

July  Vacationed at Bedford Springs for the first time.  We all loved it!  The pools were great; we especially loved sitting by the first pit, roasting marshmallows and swinging on the swing in the front yard in the evenings.  Loved the hiking trail that is right across from the hotel entrance.  Found on of the best restaurants in the little town, 10/9.  Food was fantastic and the kids even tried some new entrees.

September

AL started 2nd grade.  She tested into an accelerated reading class so that is her new thing for this year.

RB started 1st grade.

MB  went to his first year of preschool.

2012

Just because I haven't written doesn't mean our family hasn't been busy growing and exploring and trying new things.  Here is list of some things we have done.

2012

May We joined a pool for the first time.  AL had learned how to swim the summer before, but RB was just on the verge.  After roughly a week, he got the swimming thing down and was an independent swimmer.  Now MB next, but it will be a couple of years.

December  We purchased a piece of commercial property.  It will be a big project, but we are excited to get started.

Four years, Oh my!

I was updating my family blog and looked at all of my blogs.  I can't believe that it has been four years since I last posted on My New Thing!  My New Thing should be to make sure I update every month!  The one post that caught my eye was the January 2012 ski trip.  That was AL and RB's first ski experience;  MB was a baby, just shy of his first birthday.  I remember that trip so vividly.  I can't believe that in one day, that little one-year-old is going to take his first ski lesson.  We are all prepared with our equipment and ready for the slopes.  Can't wait to go.

April 2012

My new thing for the month is concentrating on getting back into shape.  My goal is to get to the gym twice a week and to TKD at least once a week.  I did well this first week of April.  With the kids being on Spring Break, I made a point of going to the gym so that I could leave Matthew with his brother and sister.  He stayed in the childcare long enough for me to get some lengthy workouts in.  Went to TKD twice--on Thursday and Saturday.  Thursday was awesome because not many people were there and Mr. Master worked with me one-on-one.  Need to practice, but I think I am ready for testing.
